In the video, the man who was quite aggressive held his estranged wife by her dress and pushed her in different directions. When people ran towards them to intervene, he said ”I need my son. I need my son.” The lady, a serving youth corper, wept as she said she ran away from home due to domestic violence.
The management of Exploits University, Malawi has revoked a BSc in Business Administration degree it awarded to a former student, Bridget Thapwile Soko. Bridget had burnt her certificate in a viral video on TikTok after being frustrated by years of unemployment since graduation. But the Institution released a statement condemning her actions and it sent a letter to the graduate informing her of its decision to revoke her degree.
President of Exploits University, Dr. Desmond Bikoko, in the letter dated 21st October, 2022, said burning her certificate is a disgrace and it is taken to mean she wishes to tarnish the image of the school. It reads; “We have learnt with disappointment that you recorded a video clip burning a degree that we awarded to you upon completion of your studies with Exploits University and posted on social media
.
“It is our interpretation that you did this to disgrace and tarnish the image of the university. “The university is therefore revoking the degree of business administration awarded to you. Our decision will also be made public through the media.
“Consequently, you are no longer a graduate of Exploits University and as such your degree certificate is invalidated with immediate effect.”
